ADMINISTRATION

Shane Walton
Fire Chief

Chief Walton brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role at the River Falls Fire Department. With a career that began in 1997 at Travelers Rest Fire Department, he later advanced to Parker District Fire, eventually rising to the rank of Captain. In 2016, Chief Walton became the head of Pumpkintown Fire Department, and after retiring from Parker and leaving Pumpkintown, he took the reins at River Falls Fire Department.

Under his leadership, the River Falls Fire Department has undergone significant transformation. Chief Walton’s initiative to ensure a full-time firefighter is on staff every day for the past two years has moved the department from being entirely volunteer-based to having immediate professional response capabilities. This shift has vastly improved response times and service to the community.

Chief Walton’s continued drive for growth is evident as he pushes the department to take on new responsibilities. He surrounds himself with dedicated and capable subordinates who share his commitment to serving the citizens and communities of River Falls. His leadership ensures the department not only meets current needs but also evolves to better serve the future of the area.

In 2014, DC Howard earned his SC and Nationally Registered EMT certifications, further expanding his expertise and serving with Pickens County Fire Departments. That same year, he was promoted to Captain within the Pickens County Fire Department.

In addition to his role with Pickens County, DC Howard took on the responsibility of Assistant Chief with the Pumpkintown Fire Department in 2014.
